ANONYMOUS . germany (01) . « Wie ein Marchen », known as

“Wie ein Märchen / like a fairy tale.” Nothing is known about the author of these collages and drawings. German, he may have been from Berlin, as suggested by a page in the book depicting a brewery in that city. These collages come from a 72-page album (33 × 24 cm), illustrated on both sides, discovered by the collector and gallery owner Henry Boxer, titled “Wie ein Märchen / like a fairy tale.” It can be dated to the years 1960–1964, as a 1964 calendar appears among its pages. Some pages are loose, while others have become detached over time.
