This collection of drawings, executed on the reverse side of medical records, was discovered in a small village in Angola and later acquired by the art dealer Charles Ratton. On December 10, 1944, Jean Dubuffet visited Ratton for the weekend and was immediately captivated by the delicacy of these works. He acquired one for his emerging collection of art brut.
