From early childhood Rigo spends his spare time copying photos or drawings from magazines. This passion will never leave him. As a young adult, he alternated his high school studies with odd jobs, working for an interior design team specialized in the renovation of hairdressing salons in Havana. Over time he has affirmed his own style, similar to the comics. He does not respect the linear narration of a story and chooses collage, mixing personal and political events which he blends together on recycled or found paper. Living very poorly, he spends part of his days collecting plastic bottles, cans and other salvaged items that he subsequently sells — an activity well-known to all Cubans, who call it “tanquero” (Spanish word for: tanker).
