Dominique Théate has attended Le “S” Grand Atelier in Vielsalm since 2001. Passionately devoted to figurative drawing, he focuses his practice on scenes that bring together personalities from the 1980s, fictional characters and figures drawn from local folklore, as well as friends and members of his family.
Alongside this rich creative universe, nourished by his own personal mythology, Théate also produces what he calls “schemas”: self-portraits of a more conventional composition, executed in graphite pencil, in which the act of writing plays a particularly important role.
