Ikuyo Sakamoto was a resident of the Shobu Gakuen center in Kagoshima from 1973. She began her textile art activities there in 1988. The embroideries she created are characterized by a proliferation of organically inspired forms composed of countless intersecting and overlapping threads, forming kinds of hills or volumes reminiscent of Zen gardens.
