KALIMAN (alberto RODRIGUEZ, known as)

[23 novembre 1969, Guanajuato, Méxique]

Alberto Rodriguez, known by the nickname “Kalimán,” alternates stays in a psychiatric hospital and life on the street. This is where he writes, on paper found in garbage cans or directly on the walls. His texts are manifestos nourished by a mixture of the Catholic religion and Hare Krishna movement. He often chants what he writes to make the text sound like a song, a mantra. Most of the time, after having written his texts, he destroys the works by tearing them up or burning them; he then collects the ashes  which he smears on his body.
