MAISONNEUVE pascal-désir

Pascal-Désir Maisonneuve was a mosaicist like his father. He was interested in all the arts of all time. In 1928, he was named Best Worker of France for the execution of a portrait of Sadi Carnot. After he retired, he created a series of portraits, a kind of “gallery of famous people,” entitled Treacherous Rogues across Europe from shells. There are fifteen of them, all made in single year; their names speak for themselves: the Tartar, the Chinese, the Teuton, the Devil, but also Queen Victoria and William II.
