KATSUHIRO terao

[1960, Osaka, Japon]

After graduating from high school, Terao Katsuhiro joined his father’s metalworking company as a welder, a position he held for twenty years until its closure and the death of his parents. Traumatized by these events, he thereafter devoted his life to a kind of cult of steel, spending his days walking in search of metal parts.
He documents his research by fixing sketches and diagrams on paper representing assemblies of these parts. He also creates steel sculptures. He now works at the Incurve workshop in Osaka.
