GARCIA LASTAYO jorge francisco

[1985, Cuba]

From an early age, supported by his family, Jorge Francisco Garcia Lastayo participated in art workshops in his neighborhood. In 2000 he enrolled in a professional art school, which he quickly left feeling uncomfortable in the mold of an academic education. From then on he decided to continue his creation on his own, as an autodidact. The death of his grandmother upset him and seems to have given him access to a new dimension in his work.  He invents a symbolic vocabulary, a codification, a very personal visual language. He often uses supports and materials that are not frequently used by others, such as plastic protections. He also integrates slides in the drawing.
