Iwona Mysera never learned to read or write. And yet, she invented her own language. Away from prying eyes, she produces thousands of letters and pages of text on a variety of materials. Once completed, these works are often destroyed, as if the act of writing mattered more than preserving what has been written.
She favors diaries, newspaper clippings, and maps—materials that seem to allow her to appropriate the world and recompose its traces. Her writing, situated at the boundary between drawing and language, evokes a musical score or a form of organic notation, reminiscent of the patterns of an electroencephalogram.
