GROSJEAN alain

1963 — Stavelot — Belgique

Alain Grosjean is a visual artist who has made clay his medium of choice. His mastery of the potter’s wheel, his diligence and consistency in the workshop have enabled him to develop advanced techniques and knowledge in ceramics. At the same time, he became interested in wood carving, a demanding discipline he explored with a cabinetmaker. He thus created large sculpted hands integrated into the collective project Ave Luïa. These ex-votos, initially roughly carved, mainly allowed him to focus on sanding, a finishing technique he particularly appreciates for its precision and repetitive gestures. This approach gives his works a sense of softness and harmony, both in their form and in their tactile quality.
