TALPAZAN ionel

[1955, Petrachioaia (République Populaire Roumaine, Actuelle Roumanie) — 2015, New York, États-Unis]

Raised by a foster family in a small Romanian village, Ionel Talpazan’s life changed forever at the age of seven when he saw a flying saucer. In 1987, he fled Romania by swimming across the Danube to Yugoslavia and eventually obtained political refugee status in the United States.
In New York, he devoted himself to his passion: depicting UFOs, planets, and solar systems. Convinced that scientists would one day take interest in his drawings, he included ideas about extraterrestrial propulsion techniques. His works, often annotated in Romanian and sometimes featuring the Statue of Liberty or his handprints, gradually filled his apartment, a tangible reflection of his cosmic obsession.
