BODSON marie

[1992, Liège, Belgique]

As a teenager, Marie Bodson stood out in her specialized school for her creative abilities. Thanks to her teacher, she came into contact with La « S » Grand Atelier, which she joined in 2012, as soon as she finished her schooling. Her work is multifaceted. She experiments with pencil, felt-tip pen, embroidery, monotype, digital techniques, as well as painting on photographs. Influenced by pop culture, she enjoys browsing celebrity magazines in search of movie stars, ideal couples, or Hollywood households—iconographic codes from women’s magazines that reflect her own idealized vision of emotional life. She also uses personal photos, family portraits, and postcards that evoke love for her and allow her to explore its many dimensions intimately (domestic, marital, erotic, friendly, etc.). Bodson works on her images with acrylic paint, carefully choosing the exact areas where she intervenes. These zones, mostly bodily, are covered with bright colors, almost like clothing.
