After a painful experience learning to draw and paint at school, Sandra Sheehy loses confidence in herself and gives up all artistic ambitions, as her teachers had advised her to do. A few years later, she decides to buy coloured cotton threads and begins, timidly at first, to explore embroidery, allowing herself to be guided by the freedom of her imagination, without any attempt to represent a model or an object. For her, her embroideries express her love for and her sense of wonder at the world around her.
