Royal Robertson left school at the age of eight and became an apprentice sign painter. He traveled around the West coast for some time and then returned to Louisiana in 1950 to care for his mother. In 1955 he married Adell Brent, who gave him eleven children. Adell left 19 years later for another man and moved to Texas with their children. Desperate, Royal Robertson gradually isolated himself and maintained a fierce and misogynist hatred of his former wife and women in general. Suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, he claimed to have had visions from God piloting spaceships. At that time he called himself “Prophet” and began an artistic production that reflected his vision and his hatred of women. Through complex numerological formulas he denounced the dangers of adultery and fornication and claimed to be victim of a global female conspiracy  fomented by his ex wife, which would cause cataclysmic destruction of humanity.
