DE MAURI Diego

[1963, Lausanne, Switzerland]

At the age of eighteen, Diego de Mauri began vocational training in plasterwork as part of a professional integration programme. He left the family home to complete three years of training. It was during this period that he discovered drawing, which became a refuge from a difficult environment and a privileged means of expression.
At the end of the 1980s, during a stay in the mountains, he developed a passion for chalets. These structures became the central subject of his work and continued to inspire his artistic practice. Over time, his imagination expanded to include other forms of architecture, yet buildings have remained at the heart of his work — a space where memory, observation and invention come together.
