We hardly have any information about the life of John Podhorsky. He was a carpenter in California in the 1950s, then committed to the DeWitt State Hospital in Auburn, California. The few works that we know were preserved by Dr Tarmo Pasto, a psychologist and professor of art at California State College in Sacramento, also known to have interest in Martin Ramirez, patient in the same hospital.
