Italian-born Jules Godi lived near Draguignan, where he worked as a mason. Outside his professional life, he was passionate about divination. He was known for his gifts and people came to see him to look for those reported missing or detect subterrenean expanses of water. Although nothing seems to link his artistic production with divination, Jules Godi established a connection between the two. With a pendulum he marked on a sheet of paper points corresponding to certain astral configurations, which he linked together to create geometrical figures. The occult forces that drove his hand also determined the color composition.
