Dan Miller’s childhood and adolescence, marked by autism and frequent epileptic seizures, unfolded within a difficult and insufficiently supportive family environment. In 1988, he joined the Creative Growth Art Center in Oakland, where he found enough peace to devote himself to his two passions: cooking and drawing. His work is essentially a play on letters and words. The words he writes on paper are the names of people he knows, places he has visited, activities in which he has taken part, or everyday objects.
