The childhood of André Robillard was marked by sharp conflicts with his family which decided to place him from the age of eight years in a school attached to a psychiatric hospital. Increasingly aggressive, he was committed at nineteen. He nevertheless found a certain stability, in the mid 1960s, that allowed him to acquire a particular status in the hospital. He became thus responsible for the wastewater treatment plant. That is when he started to make weapons and spacecrafts from recovered objects. He not only creates objects but also draws guns, planets, satellites, stars, but also animals. André Robillard considers himself as a “bricoleur.”
