Always ready to engage in conversation Susan Janow is a young, enthusiastic and extroverted woman but when she goes to her table the world around her disappears and with extreme concentration she is entirely absorbed in her work. Geometric patterns constitute her vocabulary, her creative universe. Most of the time she begins by establishing a grid and then, step by step, following an automatic process that seems guided only by retinal excitement caused by the clash of colours she slowly fills each box to form a kind of abstract mosaics, also suggestive of a barcode or colour palettes. She works at the Creative Growth Art Center in Oakland, California.
