A happy, sociable child with many friends, Nikolai Vorobiov was a good student who loved sports and chess. At the end of his teens, he sank gradually into depression that forced him to stop his studies. In his thirties, he seems to have had a second wind and began painting. He decided to change his name and calls himself Almazov (“diamond” in Russian). He signs his gouaches, which mostly represent beautiful women or historical figures. He lives with his parents.
