LEJEUNE gilles

[1984, Malmedy, Belgique]

In 2006, Gilles Lejeune began an artistic practice at La « S » Grand Atelier, even though nothing seemed to predispose him to it. It was indeed difficult to imagine that this visually impaired man could take pleasure in painting, drawing, and certain printing techniques. His work is minimal and essential: he intervenes on all kinds of image supports—photographs, paintings, etc.—which he signs and stamps with an energetic and refined line, as a form of appropriation. A few years later, he abruptly decided to leave the workshops, and it was only in the spring of 2020, after the health lockdown, that he gradually resumed using his tools and revived his artistic practice.
