GOETZMANN yohann

1992 — France

Yohann Goetzmann constantly carries with him a folder filled with sheets printed with collages of screenshots, game shows, numbers and letters, images related to diagrams, railway, metro and bus maps, and so on. But also starlets and television presenters. Yohann Goetzmann is inexhaustible when it comes to the sources of his images. He developed his collage technique as a self-taught artist; recording his compositions matters little to him, as for him the final goal is the printed image on paper. He also performs in Astéréotypie, a spoken word project that originated in his former special education institute. Passionate about everything related to series, routes, and networks, he seems to find in them a form of reassurance. He was accommodated in various institutions before joining La Pommeraie in Belgium. When he was told that the center did not provide internet access for residents, one can imagine his distress. He was then offered colored pencils as a substitute for his tool of passion. Brut Pop met Yohann Goetzmann in 2014 for the documentary it was filming at the time for France Télévisions: “Musique Brute, handicap et contre-culture.” Brut Pop then began to present his work in various venues and events.
