We know nothing about the author of this work entitled A Dream Before the Banquet. Particularly disturbing, it can be interpreted in several ways. One might see it as a macabre staging that displays the full cruelty of savages who have decapitated their victims, or of invaders who have exterminated their enemies before slipping into their bodies. It could just as well depict a bloody battle in which everyone ends up losing, all being cut into pieces. The viewer may also wonder about the fact that the heads of these hybrid “savages” were carefully cut out from photographs. Who were these people? In any case, it is worth noting that they are exclusively men.
