Laura Delvaux began her artistic practice with pastel drawing at La « S » Grand Atelier in Vielsalm. Her work took a decisive turn in 2008 when she started exploring new forms of expression through textile. After creating sewn dolls from various pieces of fabric, she evolved her practice toward more abstract constructions, made from small decorative objects, toys, or stuffed animals, which she methodically envelops with colored wool threads until they are partially or completely hidden beneath layers of fiber.
For the collective project Ave Luïa, comprising over four hundred works, she applied this technique to plaster representations of the Virgin Mary.
