Art Brut – abcd Collection / Bruno Decharme
Published on the occasion of the exhibition Art Brut – abcd Collection / Bruno Decharme, held at La Maison Rouge, 18 October 2014 – 18 January 2015.
Lyon, Fage Éditions and Paris, La Maison Rouge, 2014.
For its twelfth exhibition devoted to a private collection, La Maison Rouge presented the most important private collection of Art Brut: that of Bruno Decharme. Conceived by Bruno Decharme and Antoine de Galbert, the exhibition was organized around thematic sections (Mental Cartographies, Scientific Heterotopias, Blood and Fury, Vertigos of the Flesh, Celestial Epics, etc.), forming a twelve-stage journey that guided visitors through a body of work still little known and long kept at the margins of art history. The catalogue follows this same itinerary.
The publication is complemented by a conversation between Bruno Decharme, Antoine de Galbert, and Paula Aisemberg; an essay on Art Brut collectors by Barbara Safarova; and a presentation of Hans-Jörg Georgi and the Goldstein Workshop by Christiane Cuticchio.
