NANDRIN lucienne

[1959, Tavigny, Belgique]

Lucienne Nandrin is a sculptor born in a village in the Belgian Ardennes. Visually impaired for many years, she instinctively turned to working with clay, a medium through which she was able to come to terms with her sense of touch and, in doing so, develop new forms of perception and ways of engaging with the world around her. As her visual abilities significantly declined, she began producing casts depicting biblical scenes, which she “reads” with her fingertips.
