Hassan is originally from Senegal, but settled in a Barcelona neighborhood where Port wine is warehoused. This mysterious thirty-something loner lives on the street and speaks only sporadically. According to an acquaintance, he comes from a small village and has a daughter. He uses what little money he has to buy batteries for his radio so he can listen to music. He creates his “canvases” from wine crates using a saw and a box cutter, and onto these wood panels he draws flat-roofed houses and simple geometric shapes. Instead of signing his works, he inserts polished and perforated pieces of brass into the wood. He carries his tools, pencils and panels in a bag that he ties to his body.
