Lucienne Nandrin is a sculptor born in a village in the Ardennes. Visually impaired for many years, she turned almost instinctively to working with clay, a medium through which she is able to tame her sense of touch and, in doing so, develop new ways of perceiving and engaging with the world around her. Subsequently, as her visual abilities declined significantly, she began making casts depicting biblical scenes, which she “reads” with her fingertips.
