These two drawings were acquired from an elderly man who was sitting at the exit of Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Pavilion Temple) in Kyoto. According to the interpreter who accompanied us, he comes to this spot every morning and draws on his lap, always making the same “spots,” indicating that they represent stars.
