At first glance, these are two very different bodies of work. Yet the artistic projects of Anna Zemankova and Lubos Plny are linked by concerns that are ultimately closely related, for both creators are engaged in processes of anatomical metamorphosis. Each in their own way reorganizes, explores, and plays with the transformation of the form and structure of the human body. Through this process of transfiguration, the body becomes a chimera of heterogeneous qualities—radiant and glorious in Anna Zemankova’s work, dissected and recomposed in that of Lubos Plny.
The exhibition and accompanying publication also feature several Art Brut artists presented in Rouge Ciel. An Essay on Art Brut, a film by Bruno Decharme.
