VII – ” I ” IS ANOTHER

This section brings together artists whose works question the boundaries of identity and the body. They show that the body is not merely a refuge, but also an enigmatic and unsettling space, akin to Bluebeard’s castle. In some cases, the limits between the body and the external world dissolve: microcosm and macrocosm merge in a blurring of the self that opens onto a form of participation in the world.
In the works presented here, the “I” dissolves through metamorphoses, transformative operations, or processions of simulacra and masks. These processes blur—and at times transcend—the distinctions between masculine and feminine. The multiplication of identities, bodily grafts, and fusion-like relationships with the environment ultimately reveal a vertical dimension, suggesting the existence of a connection with the beyond.
