Alice Wong and her family moved to California in 2003. She then joined the Creative Growth Art Center in Oakland. She first worked on ceramics and drawing, then from 2013 began her series of photo interventions. As soon as she arrives to the studio she meets her boyfriend Paulino Martin. They work together side by side and never leave each other. The abcd collection photo album was given to the artist by a collector who particularly likes her work; he would have bought it 25 years ago at a Michigan flea market. Alice Wong worked on it for over a year. It represents one of her most complex works, expressing the way she sees the different characters and thus re-writes the story of this forgotten family.
