Dan Miller spent his childhood in a difficult family that did not offer much support for a boy suffering from autism and frequent epileptic seizures. In 1988, he began to visit the Creative Growth Art Center, where he found the peace and quiet necessary for him to engage in his two hobbies: cooking and art. In his art, he experiments with letters and words that he superimposes on top of each other with such extraordinary energy that they often blend into an illegible field of text. He writes down the names of people he knows, places he has visited, events he has attended, or everyday items. Recently, he has also been creating type- written “visual poems” on long reams of paper.
