Rose Aubert attended elementary school only for a short time. At the age of twenty she married a farmer suffering from acute rheumatism gradually preventing him from working in the fields. Consequently, she had to take care of the farm; worn out by the hardship of her job, she became sick too. She began to paint and draw. Her paintings represent abstract landscapes, haunted by anthropomorphic forms, while her drawings feature women caught in a kind of net. A delicate work, which also invokes the feeling of entrapment as her figures blend into the structure of the drawings.
